Essay & Art Contest

International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination - Essay & Art Contest, presented in Partnership with Bahai Faith.


If you are a high school student in High River or Okotoks, we invite you to enter our essay & art contest to win some fun prizes & engage with your community.


Essay Contest Topics

- What might you say to someone who doesn't value diversity?


- Who is someone you admire in their quest for racial equality?


- In 1963 Reverend Martin King Jr. said "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character.” What does this quote mean to you and do you think things have changed since then?


- Write about a time you experienced or witnessed racial discrimination?


Art Contest Topics

Develop an original piece of art, sculpture,

song or poem on ‘What Does Diversity & Inclusivity Mean to You’.


There will be a 1st, 2nd & 3rd place prize for both categories.

Winners & Prizes will be announced on March 21 on the FCIS & Town of Okotoks Facebook page.
