Meet Ric Cervera, an English Language Instructor in CCIS' Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program. His story will leave you inspired!
With a master’s and Ph.D. under his belt, Ric taught as a university professor for 15 years in the Philippines. Now in his 10th year teaching English to newcomers, Ric is making a difference in the lives of many.
From helping students develop their language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing to facilitating their integration into Canadian society, Ric is truly one of the vital links in our community.
Ric's passion for teaching goes beyond the classroom, and he's proud of the many newcomer success stories he's been a part of. Aside from teaching, he has participated in and presented at several Alberta Teachers of English as a Second Language (ATESL) conferences.
His message to us all is to find our niche and bring a greater sense of professional fulfillment to our lives. He also urges us to step out of our comfort zones and make a big impact in our community.
When Ric isn't teaching, he enjoys hiking and gardening. In fact, he has set a personal goal to walk/hike 2,023kms before 2023 ends!
With competence, collaboration, impact, and service at the core of what he does, Ric is a true inspiration.
